Heavy & Construction Equipment

Heavy equipment verification: excavators, dozers, loaders and cranes

An independent agent goes to the machine, on a job site, in a yard or on a farm, and records the serial plate, hour meter, undercarriage, attachments and overall condition. You get a sealed certificate a buyer or lender can check without making the trip.

Machines we document

  • Excavators and mini excavators
  • Dozers and crawler loaders
  • Wheel loaders, backhoes and skid steers, wheeled or tracked
  • Motor graders, scrapers and compactors
  • Cranes, telehandlers and aerial lifts
  • Dump trucks, water trucks and haul trucks
  • Generators, compressors and other site equipment

Heavy equipment is a common target for listing fraud and title confusion because a single machine can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. A serial number read from the plate by an independent witness, with a photo of the plate and the hour meter, settles the first questions a buyer or lender asks.

On a typical excavator visit

  • Serial plate and any stamped frame number photographed
  • Hour meter photographed
  • Tracks, rollers and sprockets photographed
  • Boom, stick, bucket and couplers photographed
  • Cab and controls photographed
  • Standardized questions answered on camera

Fleets and yards

Contractors, rental yards and lenders often need several machines documented at once. Each machine can get its own certificate on the same visit, and loose attachments such as buckets, forks, hammers and grapples can be certified together as a Lot.

Companies with many assets can keep them under an organization account, grouped by account, so the office can see every verified machine in one place.

Before the agent arrives

Park the machine where the agent can walk all the way around it. Clean mud off the serial plate if you can. Have someone there who can start the machine if the hour meter needs power, and who can answer questions about its history.

Selling verified iron

Verified equipment can go straight into an IronMarket sealed bid sales event, where bidders see the verification details with the listing.

Common questions

Basic covers identity, up to 20 photos and ten standardized questions, which suits most skid steers, backhoes and loaders. Expert adds up to 100 photos, video walkarounds and up to fifty questions, and is meant for cranes, large excavators and other high-value machines.

Yes. The agent goes to the machine, whether it sits in a yard, on a job site or on a farm, as long as access is authorized and the site is safe to walk.

Attachments on the machine are photographed with it. Loose attachments can be added to the same visit or documented as a separate Lot.

No. A verification documents what the asset is and its condition on the day of the visit. It does not place a value on the asset.
