Trailer verification: gooseneck, livestock and flatbed
Trailers change hands often, cross state lines and are easy to misdescribe. A credentialed agent reads the VIN off the trailer, records the axles, deck, frame and hitch, and seals it all into a certificate.
Trailers we document
- Gooseneck and bumper-pull stock trailers
- Flatbed, deckover and equipment trailers
- Lowboys and hydraulic-tail trailers
- Dump trailers and hopper-bottom grain trailers
- Car haulers, enclosed and utility trailers
- Horse trailers with living quarters
A trailer is often the second item in a deal: the tractor and the trailer it rides on, or the cattle and the stock trailer. Both can be verified on the same visit.
What the agent records
- VIN plate and any frame stamp
- Make, model, year, length and axle count
- Tires, brakes and suspension as seen
- Deck, floor, sides and frame
- Lights, wiring and hitch or gooseneck coupler
- Standardized questions answered on camera
What the certificate covers
The certificate shows an independent agent saw this trailer, with this VIN, in this condition, on this date. Buyers, sellers and lenders use it to settle the questions that usually take a phone call and a long drive.
Titles, registration and any VIN inspection your state requires are handled separately through the state or a tag agent. The certificate sits alongside that paperwork.
